Leslie has a long history as a private music teacher of violin and viola. She accepted her first student when she was only nine years old. By the age of thirteen, Leslie had a good deal of teaching experience and Manolios Music, an area music store, asked her to be their resident violin and viola teacher.

Her teaching has continued throughout her life. In the 1990’s, Leslie began Suzuki Teacher training at Texas Christian University, where one of her most influential teachers was Gwen Runyon (1923-2006), who had studied with Dr. Shinichi Suzuki. She received a position teaching Suzuki Music violin and viola at Tarrant County College (1994). She also began working at George B. Dealey, the only Montessori School in the Dallas Public School system, as a Suzuki instructor (in 1996) and soon developed an extensive private studio as well. Her students have ranged from 3 to 70 years of age.

In 2014 Leslie began mentoring to become a Music Together instructor. She later received her certification in Music Together LLC.

Leslie also teaches a more traditional method to students who are old enough to read English, and can, therefore learn to read music.
